Goals at a premium in South Yorkshire

Under 2.5 goals looks the best bet when Rotherham host Wigan in League One on Saturday. It has been five meetings between these two sides since the last time a game produced three goals or more.

Rotherham are struggling, having lost two of their first three League One matches, but they have won three of their last four home games. Wigan have failed to win nine of their last ten away games, but they have won four of the last six meetings with Rotherham.

Wigan beat Peterborough 2-0 last weekend in a result that kept up their recent trend for matches with under 2.5 goals. Wigan, who were priced as even-money favourites to win the game, didn’t score in the second half and have scored four of their five goals this season before the interval.

Sixteen of Wigan’s last 20 League One road games have stayed under the 2.5 goals mark.

A narrow 1-0 win for Rotherham looks the most likely outcome. At least one of the teams did not score in four of the last five League One meetings between these sides, and that trend could continue here.
