Roma to Win and Over 1.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Roma should have grown in confidence from their home win over Verona and we have seen many of Jose Mourinho’s former teams enjoy a post-Special One bounce in the immediate aftermath of his sacking. Salernitana have lost their last four and three of their lats four home games, so look there for the taking.

Roma 2-1

Reason for tip

Roma have scored exactly two goals in three of their last four meetings with Salernitana, who have shipped exactly two in their last four home contests. The hosts have scored in six of their last seven home games with three of those finishing in a 2-1 defeat.

Salernitana vs Roma Predictions

  • Salernitana have lost three straight league games and four in all competitions
  • Roma won their first league game under Daniele De Rossi last weekend
  • Salernitana have conceded exactly two goals in their last four Serie A home games

Roma in early throes of post-Mou bounce

Chelsea went on a 16-game unbeaten run in the league, Manchester United’s was 12 and even Spurs won their first couple of games in the wake of Jose Mourinho’s departure — so Roma’s bounce may only just have begun.

For successor Daniele De Rossi, the timing of Mourinho’s sacking was perfect as the Giallorossi were about to face three of Serie A’s bottom four.

His senior coaching career got off to a winning start with a 2-1 home success over Verona last weekend and he will look to follow that up away at rock-bottom Salernitana on Monday.

Roma went 2-0 up inside 25 minutes at the Olimpico last week before eventually holding off a brave Veronese comeback bid. The game demonstrated why a change was needed but brought hope that De Rossi can reinvigorate the squad.

Salernitana’s sticky patch to continue

Salernitana are in the midst of a very sticky patch and could soon be considering another change of coach after Filippo Inzaghi, who took over in October, failed to give them lift off.

The hosts enter this on the back of a torrid run of four straight defeats in which they have been thrashed 6-1 by Juventus in the cup and suffered three 2-1 league losses to Juve, Napoli and Genoa.

Another 2-1 scoreline looks the most likely outcome here as they cannot stop conceding goals wherever they go. Roma have been unable to pick up away results of late, but things could change under the new coach and the away win gets our vote.
