San Lorenzo vs Atlético Tucumán Predictions
Saturday’s Superliga Argentina action sees San Lorenzo playing host to Atletico Tucuman. Plenty of action is expected at both ends of the pitch as the two sides fight for the 3 points on offer.
After a dismal Copa Sudamericana exit in mid-week and a below par 2018 overall, San Lorenzo are coming under huge pressure. Boss Claudio Biaggio remains in his job at the time of writing, but it remains to be seen if that will be the case come kick off, whilst a poor result will surely seal his feat should he indeed take charge of Saturday’s clash.
San Lorenzo managed to finish 3rd last season, thanks to their showings in 2017, but they’ve played some very poor, uninspiring football in recent months and look like finishing nowhere the same heights this campaign, currently standing 14th after taking just 7 points from their opening 6 games. Nonetheless, for all their struggles, El Ciclon still remain something of a force on home soil, evidenced by the fact they’re unbeaten in 5 league matches there and they’ll be desperate to maintain said sequence with a strong showing.
Meanwhile, Atletico Tucuman manager Ricardo Zielinski is doing a fantastic job in the Decano dugout and leads a visiting outfit high on confidence. Atletico may will be all but of their Copa Libertadores quarter final tie with Gremio, in which they’ll travel to contest the second leg midweek 2-0 down, but they defied all the odds to even make it that far whilst their domestic exploits have been equally as impressive.
Atletico had came into the campaign with a slight threat of relegation lingering due to their standing on the average points table, but their excellent opening to the campaign has them looking clear of danger and set to fight for bigger things. 14 points from their opening games has the visitors sitting pretty in 2nd and having won their last 4 Superliga outings, they certainly bring plenty of momentum with them to the capital.
Ultimately, we’re expecting an exciting game. San Lorenzo have to come out and play on the front foot as they try to lift the pressure building on them, whereas Atletico Tucuman are one of the division’s real form teams and will be hungry to continue their hot streak.
As such, backing both teams to score looks an excellent way to play. San Lorenzo’s last 4 home games have all seen goals at both ends, as have all of Atletico’s 3 away games so far this season and neither sequence looks like ending here. As for the result itself, whilst the visitors are in by far the better shape of the two, San Lorenzo remain a tough nut to crack as hosts and for that reason, we can see the match ending in a 1-1 draw.
