      San Marino +4

      Reason for tip

San Marino have enjoyed arguably their most successful few months in international football, earning promotion in the Nations League and only narrowly losing 1-0 to Bosnia and Herzegovina last time out. With that in mind, they can keep this clash with Austria competitive.

      Austria 2-0

      Reason for tip

Austria have failed to score more than two goals in any of their last seven away games and at the end of a long season, this may be a match where they are just happy to get the victory under their belts, bringing a 2-0 away success firmly into play.

      San Marino vs Austria Predictions

      • San Marino only lost 1-0 to Bosnia and Herzegovina last time out
      • The hosts earned promotion in the Nations League over the autumn
      • Austria have failed to score more than twice in each of their last seven away games

      San Marino showing improvement

San Marino have long been whipping boys on the international stage and remain bottom of the FIFA rankings, but they have shown an improved level of competitiveness of late, as emphasised by their narrow 1-0 loss away to Group H leaders Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday.

Roberto Cevoli’s side are also fresh from topping their Nations League group over the autumn after taking seven points from four games against Gibraltar and Liechtenstein, further underlining their improvement.

While they are unlikely to deny Austria victory at the San Marino Stadium, the hosts can keep the score down, as they have only lost two of their last 17 fixtures by more than three goals.

      Low-key win likely for Austria

As the top seeds in the group, Austria will expect to ease past San Marino with no real problems, but one win in four games suggests they are not a team in the best of form, while several members of their squad may be looking forward to the summer after a long, hard season.

Ralf Rangnick’s side are not a free-scoring team on the road, failing to net more than twice in any of their last seven away matches, a run that includes trips to the likes of Estonia and Kazakhstan.

The result of Tuesday’s game may not be in much doubt, but this could be a grind for Austria and they may have to settle for a low-key 2-0 success.
