Northern Ireland Double Chance (Win or Draw)

      Reason for tip

Scotland are without a win in six matches and were thrashed 4-0 by the Netherlands on Friday. Northern Ireland appear to be trending in the opposite direction after beating Denmark and drawing with Romania in their last two games and they can avoid defeat at Hampden.

      Draw 1-1

      Reason for tip

Five of the last 10 meetings between these two sides have ended all-square and this could also finish in a draw, with 1-1 appearing a particularly appealing scoreline after Northern Ireland’s last match against Romania finished in that manner.

      Scotland vs Northern Ireland Predictions

      • Scotland are without a win in any of their last six internationals
      • Northern Ireland have beaten Denmark and drawn with Romania of late
      • Five of the last 10 meetings between these two sides have ended all-square

More frustration for Scots ahead of Euros

Scotland reached their second successive Euros with relative ease, winning their opening five qualifying matches, but their form has dipped significantly of late, as they are without a victory in six, losing four of those games.

The most recent of those losses was Friday’s chastening 4-0 defeat away to the Netherlands, a game where Steve Clarke’s side had plenty of chances, but were unable to convert.

Northern Ireland endured a disastrous qualifying campaign for the Euros, but they did beat Denmark in their final match of 2023 and followed that up with a 1-1 draw in Romania on Friday night.

Momentum appears to be building for Michael O’Neill’s side and even though their record against Scotland is not the best – they have won just two of the last 16 meetings – they look well placed to avoid defeat at Hampden.

Draw the order of the day

Friday’s defeat to the Netherlands highlighted a lack of goalscoring threat within the Scotland squad and Northern Ireland are also a team that struggle for goals, failing to score in six of their last 10 games.

That could make Tuesday’s clash a low-scoring contest and with five of the last 10 meetings finishing all-square, a draw could be on the cards.

Northern Ireland drew 1-1 with Romania on Friday night and that could prove the most likely outcome in Glasgow.
