Serbia vs Scotland Predictions

Scotland to Stand Firm in Belgrade

In-form Scotland haven’t tasted defeat in over a year now and the Tartan Army are fancied to take Thursday’s crucial Euro 2020 Play-Off against Serbia down to the wire in Belgrade.

Steve Clarke’s side face no easy task at Stadion Rajko Mitic this week as they look to qualify for their first major tournament since the 1998 World Cup, but they’ve been slowly gaining momentum and confidence since the 57 year-old replaced Alex McLeish last year.

A run of eight matches without defeat (W6, D2) stretching back to last October has seen Scotland top their UEFA Nations League Group and edge out a tough Israel side in the last round – a sequence manufactured on the foundation of some fine defensive displays.

Scotland have conceded just four goals on that run and have maintained clean sheets in their last three outings against Israel, Slovakia and Czech Republic.

With Serbia winning none of their last six matches inside 90 minutes and failing to score in their last two at home, we think the Tartan Army are great value at odds-against to at least force extra-time in this Thursday’s clash.

Scotland will have to keep their concentration as long periods without the ball are likely and chances at the other end may be limited to counter attacking opportunities. The Tartan Army look dangerous on the break but struggle to score too many themselves with just two netted in their last three, so a 0-0 stalemate is also worth an interest here alongside our Scotland ‘Double Chance’ prediction.
