Sevilla vs Deportivo La Coruna Predictions
Is was anything but routine for Sevilla on Thursday night though when they were taken to penalties by Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League. That was despite a 2-1 1st leg win in the Basque Country and was their 2nd home defeat in a row having won 17 on the bounce prior to that. Their principal target this season is now the cups with a Copa del Rey final to come against Barcelona and last four Europa League tie with Shakhtar to look forward to. They will most likely put a strong side out here though as just winning their home games in the league will be enough to guarantee a place in Europe next season given they are in 7th place with a big lead on Malaga below them.
This isn’t a particularly difficult game either against a Deportivo La Coruna side that have won just 1 of their last 18 matches and that was at home to bottom club Levante. They were beaten 3-1 by Las Palmas at the Riazor on Monday night and are really looking like a shadow of the side that did so well in the opening weeks of the season. They have been leaking goals all over the place over the past few months and have gone 17 matches since their last clean sheet.
Therefore given Sevilla’s fantastic home record which is the 3rd best in La Liga, you can only really see one winner in this game. 12 of their last 14 home wins have been by 2 or more goals and for that reason there looks to be real value in backing Sevilla -1 Goal Handicap at 11/10 here and it could see Depor drop into the bottom 6 although they should still have a big enough cushion on the relegation zone to comfortably stay up.
