Reasoning
Sheffield United vs Manchester United Predictions
- Manchester United have lost five of their last eight matches.
- The Red Devils have scored just three goals in their last six Premier League away games.
- Six of Sheffield United’s last seven league matches have featured at least three goals.
Ten Hag’s side could be vulnerable
It has been a disappointing start to the season for Manchester United and while they recovered from the upset of a home Champions League defeat to Galatasaray with a home win against Brentford before the international break, the circumstances were hardly convincing.
Erik ten Hag’s side needed two Scott McTominay injury-time goals to get past the Bees and with five defeats in their last eight matches, they need to be at the top of the game when they head to Bramall Lane.
They have already claimed three points at Burnley, who beat the Blades to the Championship title last season, when a Bruno Fernandes goal did the damage, but that was one of just three Premier League victories and that makes them vulnerable, even against Paul Heckingbottom’s team, who are still searching for their first victory since promotion.
A 2-2 draw against Everton has been the only point the South Yorkshire outfit have mustered this season, and they will be determined to put a show on for their own fans after they fell to a humiliating 8-0 loss to Newcastle the last time they were on their own patch.
However, they could rise to the occasion this time and get something from the game, which would reward punters who back them on the double-chance market.
Blades have showed they can battle
Their defeat to the Magpies is best forgotten and no one in the red half of the Steel City can be happy with a return of one point from eight matches, but there have been a couple of occasions when the Blades have looked competitive and they can raise themselves for the big occasion.
Champions Manchester City had to fight all the way to gain a 2-1 victory at Bramall Lane and the Blades were unfortunate to be undone by two late goals when they lost 2-1 at table-topping Tottenham.
The Red Devils have claimed four wins and were unconvincing in three of them, weathering the storm at home to Wolves, conceding two early goals in a 3-2 win over Wolves and then snatching the win against Brentford.
this could be a good time for the Blades to strike, so it is worth taking a punt on a 2-1 home win.
McBurnie can lead the charge
One of the biggest issues Ten hag has had to deal with is defensive injuries and that means Blades striker Oli McBurnie could give them a tough time.
He has yet to break his duck for the season but has had two efforts at goal in each of his last four appearances and his physical presence could provide issues for a patched-up Red Devils rearguard.
McBurnie scored 13 goals in helping the Blades to promotion last season and this looks a good chance for him to open his account.
