Tottenham Hotspur and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Tottenham have only one clean sheet since Christmas in the Premier League so they may struggle to keep out already relegated Sheffield United, who will be playing for pride. Tottenham should have enough to get the win however.

Sheffield United vs Tottenham Hotspur Predictions

  • Sheffield United have lost and both teams have scored in four of their last five games
  • Tottenham have just one league clean sheet since Christmas
  • Heung-min Son has scored 17 league goals this term

Tense times at Spurs

Tensions were high in midweek as Tottenham fell to a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City that saw them miss out on Champions League football.

Manager Ange Postecoglou resented the fact that some Spurs fans were vocal about their desire not to win the game, an outcome that would have given their rivals Arsenal an advantage in the title race.

Tottenham will have to settle for Europa League football next season however after a late season collapse that has seen them lose five of their last six games, giving Aston Villa a top four spot.

Postecoglou’s anger at their fan base means there could be strained relations between him and the away supporters for this final day clash against Sheffield United.

Blades struggles at home

The atmosphere is likely to be muted in the home end too, thanks to the Blades dismal season.

Chris Wilder’s side have broken the Premier League record for most goals conceded, with 101 so far and they are set to finish bottom of the table.

The home team have just 16 points and have the worst record in their own back yard of any team in the top flight.

They have lost 12 of their 19 games at Bramall Lane and look set to fall to another defeat in this one.

Tottenham are not in the best form themselves but they are unlikely to have to be to get the better of this Sheffield United team.

However Spurs have had defensive issues of their own this season, they have just one clean sheet in the league since Christmas and have conceded 61 times in 37 games this term, more than double that of their rivals Arsenal.

Both teams to find net

Both teams have scored in four of the last five Premier League meetings between these sides and the same is fancied again given the defensive issues that have plagued the pair.

Four of Sheffield United’s last five Premier League matches have been defeats with both sides scoring and a repeat of that is fancied.

Five of the Blades’ last seven home games in the league have seen them lose and over 3.5 goals land, with a 3-1 victory for the visitors the selection for correct score purposes in this clash.

Heung-min Son did miss a crucial chance in their defeat to Manchester City but he does have 17 league goals for the season and should be able to add to that tally against the leakiest defence in the division.
