Sheffield Wednesday vs Plymouth Argyle Predictions
- Plymouth have failed to score in losing three of their last four Championship matches
- Argyle have won just two of their 17 away Championship matches this season
- Sheffield Wednesday have won four of their last five league matches
Owls on the hunt for safety
The great escape is on for Sheffield Wednesday who have hit form at just the right time as they look to prolong their stay in the Championship.
The Owls have won four of their last five matches and their improved performances mean they are within striking distance of a place outside the relegation zone.
Wednesday have been in the bottom two for most of the campaign but they are just five points adrift of Plymouth in 16th, and our prediction is for them to edge closer to safety with a win over Argyle on Tuesday.
The Hillsborough side have won their last two home meetings with the Pilgrims, who are sliding down the standings following a run that has seen them win just one of their last six league fixtures.
Argyle are nervously looking over their shoulder and the goals have dried up at the wrong time too.
Goals hard to come by for Argyle
Plymouth will view this fixture as a winnable one, but it is hard to have much faith in a side who have failed to score in three of their last four outings.
Two goals on the road at Middlesbrough a fortnight ago are the only bright spot in a miserable run for Ian Foster’s side who lost 2-0 to Ipswich on Saturday.
Argyle haven’t won at Wednesday in three attempts since 2011 and their last visit resulted in a 1-0.
We predict a 2-0 outcome this week given the Owls’ lift in form and Plymouth’s recent struggles.
