Shelbourne should be backed to win at home to Derry City in the Premier Division on Friday.

They are one place above Derry City in the table, with just two points separating the two sides. Both teams have won more games than they’ve lost this season, but while Shelbourne have seven wins and five defeats, Derry City have eight wins and seven losses.

Shelbourne have scored in four consecutive league games, finding the net once in three of those. They secured a 3-0 win over Sligo last month, and will be confident of getting on the scoresheet here.

Derry City’s recent form has been inconsistent, with two wins, two draws and two defeats in their last six games.

The visitors have been vulnerable defensively recently. Derry City have failed to keep a clean sheet in six of their last eight Premier Division games, including five away days.

Shelbourne may be able to edge out Derry City in a close game, with a 2-1 home win the correct score. Both sides have scored in 12 of Shelbourne’s 21 Premier Division matches this season and six of their seven victories have been by one goal. Derry City have gone down by a single goal in two of their last three games.
