Shrewsbury vs Oldham Predictions
A match between two teams who currently sit inside the relegation places doesn’t exactly sound like exciting stuff and, knowing these two this season, this one certainly won’t be. Both Oldham and Shrewsbury have lacked the required quality to get seriously competitive in League One during this campaign and it looks as though they’ll be embroiled in a relegation scrap all the way to end.
Of the two, it is probably Shrewsbury who’ve looked the more likely to improve. At times they’ve offered an attacking threat – which is certainly more than can be said about Oldham. Considering just how poor Oldham have been going forward, odds of 7/5 about a Shrewsbury win here actually makes plenty of appeal.
It’s true that the hosts have struggled at times, but their recent home record isn’t all that bad, while, as touched on above, they’ve shown much more going forward than Oldham have. Paul Hurst’s team have lost just one of their last eight at home (all-competitions), keeping a rather remarkable six clean sheets in the process. Against an Oldham team who simply cannot score goals this bodes well.
The visitors really do look destined for League Two at this rate. They’ve struggled to score goals all season long. If you can’t score goals then you’re really going to struggle and that’s exactly the case for Oldham. Having played 13 times on the road, they’ve scored just eight goals, failing to score in any of their last three away matches.
The hosts are currently inside the relegation places on goal-difference and this match represents an excellent chance for them to potentially haul themselves out. At the prices, Shrewsbury are worth backing to beat this lacklustre Oldham team.
