Sint-Truidense vs Club Brugge Predictions
Sint Truiden have made a solid start to their domestic league campaign as they currently sit in 7th position after 11 games with 17 points. They had gone on a great run of form before Kortrijk beat them 3-1 at the Guldensporenstadion despite going behind early in the game.
Club Brugge head into this game sitting in 2nd place in the league, 3 points clear of 3rd placed Anderlecht but 3 points adrift of Genk at the top of the table. They head into this weekend’s game against Sint Truiden on the back of a 1-1 midweek draw at home to Monaco in the Champions League. They will be looking to get their league campaign back on track and re-take the lead at the top of the table.
Sint Truiden have been very solid this season losing just twice in their opening 11 league fixtures, both of which have came on the road. At home they are unbeaten with 3 wins and 2 draws from their opening 5 home league games. They haven’t played the toughest of opponents however with their wins coming over 14th placed Mouscron, 4th placed Antwerp and 10th placed Oostende whilst drawing to 15th placed Lokeren and 11th placed Cercle Brugge. They are currently 3rd in the form table, 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss in their last 6 games accumulating a total of 13 points, only bettered by the top 2 Genk and Club Brugge.
Club Brugge travel to play Sint Truiden this weekend winless in 4 games, they lost 3-1 to Atletico Madrid and drew 1-1 to Monaco in the Champions League whilst their last 2 league games have seen them lose 3-1 away at Standard Liege and draw 1-1 against Waasland Beveren. This is now their longest winless streak since April 2017 and they can’t afford to lose any more ground in the title race this weekend. Club Brugge are scoring prolifically this season, they have netted 12 away goals in 5 games averaging 2.4 goals per game. They are conceding 1.2 goals per game away from home which makes them liable to a dodgy draw here and there which could hurt them in the long run.
Club Brugge are in a difficult place at the moment, on the face of things their 1-1 draw to Monaco doesn’t sound bad but Monaco are in a mess, they are struggling on all fronts at the moment and this won’t be an easy game for them. Sint Truiden have been very good at home and will relish taking on a below par Club Brugge this weekend. The bookmakers have priced Brugge as odds on favoruites here which is far too short for us, so we will be taking advantage of Sint Truiden’s odds by backing them on the Double Chance market. We think this will be a tight game and will also be backing the 1-1 draw here.
