Sligo Rovers vs Waterford United Predictions

Goal drought expected

Back under 2.5 goals in Saturday’s Premier Division clash between Sligo and Waterford at The Showgrounds. Five of Sligo’s last seven league matches have ended with under 2.5 goals and three of the last four times that Waterford have visited in the league have also produced under 2.5 goals.

Waterford are two places above rock-bottom Sligo in the table, but there is an 11-point gap between the two sides. Waterford have seven wins, two draws and nine defeats from their 18 games, while Sligo have won three and lost 12.

It’s a difficult time for Sligo, who have lost four of their last five Premier Division matches and managed just one victory in their last ten home games. Waterford are without a win in three games, having drawn the last two.

Sligo’s 1-0 defeat to St Patrick’s two weeks ago in their last Premier Division outing kept up their recent trend for matches with under 2.5 goals.

The hosts have now gone two straight home games without scoring in the Premier Division, and no team has failed to score in more league matches this season than Sligo, who have drawn a blank in six of their 18 games. Waterford are also struggling up front, with just 20 goals in 18 matches – an average of 1.11 goals per game.

A 1-0 away win for Waterford looks a decent correct-score bet. Sligo have lost five of their last seven home league matches, and Waterford have clinched all seven of their wins this season by a single goal.
