Slovenia vs Cyprus Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in four of Slovenia’s last seven friendlies
  • Both teams have scored in four of Cyprus’ last seven games
  • BTTS has landed in five of Cyprus’ last seven friendlies

Slovenia showed signs of improvement against Montenegro

Slovenia return to Ljubljana on Thursday for a friendly that should offer Bostjan Cesar’s side a chance to rebuild momentum after a mixed qualification campaign. The visit of Cyprus is less exciting than the trip to Croatia that follows and Cesar could keep some of his big guns back for the latter contest, although Manchester United striker banjamin Sesko will miss both through injury.

The team have struggled to score both with and without Sesko of late and expectations for this match to bring a glut of goals should be managed. However, there were some positive signs in a 3-2 away win over Montenegro in March where Swansea hitman Zan Vipotnik bagged a brace.

Cesar’s side have only kept two clean sheets in their last nine games and with Cyprus also coming off a 3-2 win against Moldova in March, there look to be solid prospects for both teams to score.

Bosnian battles suggest Cyprus can score

Apostolos Mantzios’ men grabbed a 2-2 home draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina in World Cup qualifying, a result made even mote impressive by the Dragons’ subsequent play-off wins, and they also scored in a 2-1 defeat to the same nation in Zenica earlier last year.

That strengthens the belief that both teams can net in this clash and the odds for that alone are very appealling.

With Slovenia boasting the stronger squad and home advantage, a narrow win looks the most likely outcome — but Cyprus’ ability to create chances means they shouldn’t be ruled out of scoring.
