Smolevichi vs BATE Borisov Predictions

  • Smolevichi and BATE have both seen both teams score in three of their seven Belarus Premier League matches this season.
  • BATE’s last away game against Smolevichi resulted in a 3-2 victory in 2018.
  • BATE have scored three goals in two of their last four league games and won 3-1 against Neman Grodno last weekend.

Smolevichi bereft of confidence

After being relegated in their first ever Belarus Premier League campaign back in 2018, Smolevichi fans will have been hoping to see a little more competitiveness from their side after their promotion last term.

Unfortunately for them, that’s not been the case so far. Seven games in to the 2020 Belarus Premier League season and Smolevichi are one of only two teams yet to win a match, sitting second from bottom with a meagre three point tally.

Their 2-0 loss at home to Energetik-BGU last weekend resigned them to their fourth defeat of the season, and three of these have come at their temporary home in Borisov, the Stadyen Haradski.

BATE find their feet in 2020

BATE entered the 2020 season still reeling from their shock loss of the top flight title last season, but starting with back-to-back defeats the Belarusian heavyweights have rediscovered their form.

They beat Neman Grodno 3-1 last weekend to lift them to third in the table and they now look back on a record of four wins from their last five league matches. They will be expecting to add another win to their tally here, especially with the game being played in Borisov.

Bookies underestimate Smolevichi’s scoring chances

The defensive side of BATE’s game has improved since the start of the season, but the market prices for Smolevichi to find the net look overpriced. Smolevichi, for all their faults, have found the net in three of their seven outings this season. BATE have also conceded in three of their seven top flight games, so backing both teams to score at this price offers good value.

In the end, another BATE win does seem to be on the cards. They have scored three goals in two of their last four in the league and face a Smolevichi side that lost 3-1 at home to Dinamo Minsk a couple of weeks ago. With Smolevichi’s last two outings seeing them concede five times, another 3-1 win for BATE is our choice.
