South Korea vs Panama Predictions
South Korea have built up some form after their big finish in the World Cup, but can they continue their great momentum when they host Panama this week? The hosts were celebrating a win over Uruguay just days ago, but are they going to follow that up with success here? They are heavy favourites for a victory over the North American minnows, who went out of the World Cup with a whimper. They have done little since a thumping to Gareth Southgate’s England in Russia, and this trip could go the same way.
South Korea made a huge impact on the World Cup, despite going out at the first hurdle. Their 2-0 win over Germany was an incredible moment, dumping the world champions out. They will be hoping to go a little further in Qatar in four years’ time, while they’re getting ready for the Asian Cup at the turn of the year. They won gold at the Asian Games shortly after their time in Russia, and now they’re out to be crowned champions of Asia.
Panama have just had one of the biggest achievements in the game, as they stepped out at a World Cup for the first time. They didn’t get too much joy in Russia, losing 4-0 to Belgium and 6-1 to England. They crashed out without a point, and they’ve lost every game since. The latest of those saw them hammered 3-0 by Japan a few days ago, and now they make the trip to South Korea aiming to end an awful run of form, which has seen them lose six games on the spin.
The hosts have been made heavy favourites, and that seems deserved. While they exited the World Cup with their win over Germany, they have build that into a strong run of form. They have gone unbeaten in their three post-World Cup matches, and they have won three of their last four, keeping three clean sheets. It’s hard to see Panama being the team to end that good run, especially given how the visitors have fared of late.
Panama make this trip with some terrible form behind them on the road. They have lost to nil in four of their last five away trips, and South Korea have stepped up at the back. We can’t see the hosts having any issues in this clash, so we’re backing them to win to nil on Tuesday afternoon, while we’re also tipping them to claim a 2-0 success.
