Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Portugal conceded twice against Ghana and face a South Korea side desperate for a win. The underdogs have scored in ten of their last 12 matches and will need to push forward, although they will come under threat from Portugal’s attacking players.

South Korea vs Portugal Predictions

  • South Korea have scored in ten of their last 12 matches.
  • Portugal conceded twice to Ghana in their World Cup opener.
  • Bruno Fernandes has had eight goal involvements in his last five Portugal appearances.

Struggling South Korea set for exit

South Korea are in desperate need of a win to stand any chance of qualifying from World Cup 2022 Group H but beating Portugal could prove too big a mountain to climb.

Paulo Bento’s side conceded three times against Ghana and were lucky to get away with a point against Uruguay in the first round of games. Even if they face a rotated Portugal front line, the chances are they will be unable to keep their opponents at bay.

Portugal have sights set on top spot

Portugal have top-spot in Group H in their sights and just need a point to secure it, but the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes will be desperate to play so it is unlikely we will see too much rotation in the attacking sense from Fernando Santos.

The Selecao das Quinas earned a 2-0 win over Uruguay thanks to a Fernandes brace and played out a thrilling 3-2 win over Ghana in their opener and I expect them to make it three wins from three on Friday, although another clean sheet may be hard to come by against a desperate South Korea side.

Fernandes to lead the charge in Al Rayyan

The favourites showed some defensive vulnerability against Ghana and South Korea have scored in ten of their last 12 games, so I’m backing both teams to score here along with a 2-1 win for Portugal.

Bruno Fernandes looks a solid anytime goalscorer option, too. The Manchester United midfielder has scored five goals and assisted three more in his last five appearances for Portugal and looks in top form.
