Southampton vs West Ham United Predictions
- Southampton are enduring a four-game losing streak of Premier League games.
- Five of Southampton’s last six home league games produced at least three goals.
- West Ham have won six of their last seven matches.
- West ham are unbeaten in four of their last five visits to St Mary’s.
Troubling times for the Saints
Currently on a run of four straight defeats with just one goal scored in reply to their eight conceded, Southampton look like a side that could find themselves in big trouble unless they can reverse that form sooner or later.
Time could be running out for Southampton manager Ralph Hassenhuttl and in truth, it’s a miracle that he remained at the club after overseeing two 9-0 defeats previously!
Losing to Manchester City last time out means that the Saints have now failed to win 13 of their last 15 league games, and with four straight winless Premier League home H2Hs ahead of this, the visit of West Ham could come at an inopportune time.
The Irons are showing their mettle
After a somewhat tepid start to the season that saw West Ham go winless in six of their opening seven Premier League games, they’ve since picked up to win six of their last seven games in all competitions.
That purple patch has seen the Hammers rise to a mid-table position and it’s helped them to book their ticket to the Europa Conference League knockout phase with two games to spare, suggesting that they will arrive here with bags of confidence.
Back the Saints to get hammered
West Ham enter this clash in supreme form and look great value to progress their goals with victory at Southampton. The Hammers are favourites to win but a tempting price is enough for us to side with David Moyes’ men in this encounter.
With over 2.5 goals landing in five of Southampton’s last six home games, West Ham’s 2+ goal haul in five of their last seven games suggests that they may rack up at least a couple of goals here. We’re going for a 2-1 away win.
Jarrod Bowen is worth a look in the goalscorer markets, he became West Ham’s joint highest scoring player in European competitions in midweek and has already hit five goals this season. A goal for Bowen here would end a run of seven scoring appearances all coming at home.
