Hosts are off to a solid start

Auxerre have had a good time of things since their return to the top flight. Despite a 2-1 loss to Lyon last time out, the hosts find themselves in the top half of the table and have managed to get on the scoresheet in every match they have played so far. They now return to Stade de l’Abbé-Deschamps in front of their home fans and it’s a venue that serves them well, having lost only twice there this year.

The visitors have gotten off to a flying start. They remain undefeated after five matches and have scored a respectable 11 goals across that period. They were the best away side throughout last campaign and they will be hoping to emulate that form here in what could prove to be a tricky contest.

Marseille to edge high scoring encounter

We do expect the hosts to cause problems here but we also think Marseille, like the best teams do, will find a way of getting a result here. Auxerre will likely get on the scoresheet but Marseille could equally blow them away and so we will side with an away win but for the match to see three or more goals in total.
