Roma vs Monza Predictions

  • Roma have picked up two 1-0 wins in Serie A this season, and are yet to concede from open play.
  • The Giallorossi have now recorded four shutout victories in their last five competitive matches.
  • Monza have lost each of their three Serie A games this season.
  • Roma’s last home defeat was against Juventus in January.

Giallorossi rearguard finally breached

Roma began their second Serie A campaign under Jose Mourinho with back-to-back 1-0 wins, lifting hopes of a Scudetto challenge, and backed up their title credentials during a 1-1 draw at Juventus on Saturday. Dusan Vlahovic became the first player to breach their defence with a fine free-kick, but Tammy Abraham secured a creditable draw for Roma, who remain yet to concede from open play.

Roma have posted four shutout victories in their last five competitive games, a run which takes in last season’s Europa Conference League final success. While Roma faced likely strugglers in each of their first two games, only three Serie A sides have conceded a lower expected goals tally (1.7xG), and none have bettered their 6.6xG created, making them strong favourites to beat newly promoted Monza.

The visitors have lost each of their three games since winning promotion, going down 2-1 at home to both Torino and Udinese either side of a 4-0 hammering at Napoli. Monza are still working to incorporate an astonishing amount of new recruits, but giving up 49 shots in their Serie A fixtures to date does not bode well for a trip to the capital.

Roma set for another shutout

With Roma in outstanding form and giving up an average of just 2.67 shots on target per game so far this campaign, backing the Giallorossi to win without conceding looks an outstanding play for Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a 2-0 win for the hosts, who last lost at home on January 9th, looks a strong correct score prediction.
