Spain seek to avoid early exit

Pre-tournament favourites Spain have underwhelmed so far at the 2020 Olympics, and Argentina will provide them with their biggest test yet in Japan.

La Rojita were held to a 0-0 draw in their opener against Egypt and then secured a narrow 1-0 win over Australia.  Argentina have also found goals hard to come by after losing their opener 2-0 to the Olyroos before edging out Egypt 1-0.

Spain led the way with four points in Group C but their place in the next round is by no means guaranteed and a defeat could see them make a shock early exit.

Argentina need a win, otherwise they are relying on results elsewhere, but getting any joy out of a Spain team who have kept two clean sheets so far looks a tall order for the young Albiceleste, who have just one goal themselves.

We’re not expecting too much entertainment in this match-up and under 2.5 goals looks a strong option, while Spain have the better attack on paper and a 1-0 win for the Europeans has some appeal.
