      Spain vs Luxembourg Predictions

After a disappointing World Cup in 2014 and a somewhat dodgy start to the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, it looks as if Spain will finish at the top of Group C.

They began with a comfortable and expected 5-1 thrashing at home to Macedonia, but were the shocked in Slovakia as the hosts came away with a 2-1 win.

But since then Spain have won all of their competitive matches, with only friendly losses to Germany and Netherlands breaking up their winning streak.

With Slovakia dropping points against Ukraine, this has taken Spain to the top of the group with just two games remaining, but their two point lead is slender considering they still face an away game against Ukraine on the final matchday.

Spain haven’t actually conceded a goal in the Euro 2016 qualifiers since their 2-1 defeat to Slovakia, and in those six matches they have managed to net 12 goals.

Luxembourg, somewhat predictably, don’t hold the same sort of record. They have only picked up four points in their eight matches, with one being an opening day draw at Belarus and the other a 1-0 win over bottom of the group Macedonia.

They also haven’t managed to score in five of their eight games so far. That doesn’t bode well against an organised Spain back line.

The 4-0 victory for Spain in Luxembourg also doesn’t bode well for them, and it seems very likely that Spain will get a very comfortable victory on Friday.

Unsurprisingly, the bookies are favouring Spain massively for this one, with a straight victory for the home side coming in at an incredibly short 1/100. The odds for handicap wins are slightly more favourable though, and my backing of choice is a Spain -3 Handicap Win at 8/13, along with a 5-0 scoreline prediction at 11/2.
