Atletico PR are having an excellent season and find themselves riding high in 5th place. They could move as high as 3rd with a big win here which would be extremely unfamiliar heights for them. They are unbeaten in 7 matches in all competitions coming into this and progressed in the Copa do Brasil in midweek thanks to a 1-1 draw at Chapecoense. It was their 3rd draw in the space of 4 games in which they’ve netted just 3 goals themselves and it is defensive prowess rather than attacking brilliance which has formed the base for their success.

Sport Recife are much lower down the league but have scored 7 more goals than Atletico PR. There have been 52 goals in their games so far this season, which is more than any other team in the league but defensive problems have hindered them and are the main reason why they are struggling to replicate last term when they finished in an excellent 6th place. So they are looking for a 3rd straight Serie A win here and one that would propel them into mid-table and away from the relegation scrap, which in truth they should have too much quality to be hanging around in. Atletico PR have persisted without much rotation in the cups and at some point it could come back to hurt them in the league and there is every chance that’ll be here.
