Standard Liege and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Seven of the last eleven meetings between these two sides in Liege have seen both teams find the back of the net and Club Brugge have not won at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne since 2017. Liege have the historical advantage on their side and could be a thorn in the reigning champions’ side once again.

Standard Liege 2-1

Reason for tip

Standard have scored at least twice in each of their last three home meetings with Club Brugge, while only once has both teams found the net on multiple occasions across their last eleven head-to-heads in Wallonia.

Standard Liege vs Club Brugge Predictions

  • Standard failed to win any of their final five home games last season
  • Club Brugge have not won at Liege since 2017
  • The hosts edged to a 2-1 victory in their most recent meeting at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne

Standard can put home hoodoo to bed with victory

Standard Liege were poor in front of their fans towards the latter stages of last campaign but they can start the new home season brightly with victory over reigning champions Club Brugge, who have largely struggled in their visits to Wallonia as of late.

Les Rouches lost two and drew three of their final five games of last season and started this campaign with another draw at Gent. However, they did lose just one of their four pre-season friendlies and could be showing signs of improvement.

Club Brugge also started their league season with a draw – at home to KV Mechelen – but they have already lost out on silverware after being defeated 2-1 by Union SG in the Super Cup, while they have also lost six of their last eleven trips to the Stade Maurice Dufrasne, winning none.

This strong recent home record over Club Brugge will give Standard Liege the confidence to take all three points in their meeting on Sunday but it is unlikely to come simply for the Reds. Seven of their last 11 home meetings have seen both teams score and so a 2-1 final result looks the most tempting option in the correct score market.
