      Strasbourg vs Toulouse Predictions

      • Both teams have scored in six of the eight matches Toulouse have played under Antoine Kombouaré, the market has also won in the last four clashes between these sides.
      • Strasbourg have lost just two of their eleven home games this season, winning the four before their home defeat last week.
      • Toulouse are without an away win in the league since February.

Shock in midweek but still going strong

Strasbourg had been picking up a head of steam in their games before their trip to Brest on Tuesday but it all came crashing down as they truly rolled over for the newly promoted side. Strasbourg lost 5-0. Their three matches before this had been a narrow defeat to Lyon preceded by two confident wins (4-1, 4-0) but they somehow managed to completely let that go to their head as they were picked apart by les Ty’Zefs. Strasbourg should be looking to get back to their high standards in this match.

Strasbourg have been fairly poor on the road this season, their last match being a perfect example of this, but at the Stade de la Meinau they have been a completely different team with confident performances wowing their home fans. They’ve won four of their last five matches in the east of France with tough teams like Nice (1-0), Montpellier (1-0 and Nantes (2-1) being brushed aside. They’ve lost just two of their eleven home games this season (three of these came in their Europa League qualifiers) with them averaging 1.72 goals scored and 0.81 goals conceded in this time.

      Woeful Toulouse

Toulouse should be the happier one of the two teams going into this match considering Strasbourg were thrashed 5-0 in midweek but les Violets have had their own problems in recent weeks, going on much longer than the agony of a 90 minute battering. Antoine Kombouaré’s men have lost each of their last six league matches with 15 goals conceded and six scored in this time. Since the arrival of the new manager they have been even worse than before and now sit at the bottom of the table.

Since Kombouaré’s arrival at the club, they have conceded the most goals and chances of any team in Ligue 1 and the outlook doesn’t get any better when you look at their away form ahead of this journey east. Les Violets haven’t won an away game in the league since February. In those 16 games they’ve conceded 34 goals but have also only failed to score five times despite the poor results so they should be expecting to net against this stunned Strasbourg side.

Stade de la Meinau should prove decisive

The hosts are unbeaten in their last four clashes with Toulouse, winning the most recent clash in January (2-1) and despite their awful performance on Tuesday, we’re backing them to bounce back with a win here. Thierry Laurey’s men have been incredible at home and should have enough to get past this truly woeful Toulouse side. However, we’re backing the visitors to get on the scoresheet as Strasbourg were leaking for fun on Tuesday and have conceded goals in their last two home games. We’re predicting it to end 2-1 to the hosts. Both teams have scored in each of the last four meetings between these teams, in six of Toulouse’s eight games under Kombouaré and in both of Strasbourg’s last two home games so we’re backing this market here also.
