Dirty sheets all around

It has been a disappointing season so far for both of these former Bundesliga champions. Stuttgart are staring down the barrel of relegation and Borussia Monchengladbach currently hold a lower points total at this stage than all Bundesliga campaigns since 2010/11.

Another thing these sides have in common is the fact that they are both without a clean sheet at home and away, respectively.

Stuttgart are the only top-flight side yet to record a shutout at home, while Gladbach are one of three yet to see an away shutout, suggesting we may see more of the same here.

Two former champions, three or more goals

Two thirds of Stuttgart’s home league games have produced over 2.5 goals this season and I expect this one to produce something similar.

The hosts must go hammer and tong to go for the win while Gladbach are more than capable of hitting back, at least finding the net in five of their last seven visits here.

As for the correct score, I think that Stuttgart could just about edge this one with a narrow 2-1 success, a win which would see them inch ever closer to positions of safety.
