Rare Derby della Mole delight for Torino?

Turin rivals Torino and Juventus meet in the latest edition of the Derby della Mole on Saturday.

This local rivalry has been anything but close in recent years and Torino haven’t managed to beat their neighbours since 2015, losing 15 of the 19 meetings since their last win, but this weekend they have a chance to pull off an upset.

Il Toro somehow managed to lose 3-2 at Empoli last weekend despite dominating throughout but their recent home form has been solid. Torino have only conceded in one of their last six home games and have only lost twice at the Stadio Olimpico in Serie A all season.

Juve are on course for a top four finish and Champions League football but their away form has dipped of late. The Old Lady have three defeats in their last four trips and look a little vulnerable here. Admittedly, all of those losses came against quality opposition but they were held to a draw at Verona during that run, which suggests Torino could get something here.

Goals could be in short supply

This could be a good game for fans of under 2.5 goals backers as that has been a winning bet in each of Juventus’ last four overall and in Torino’s last five home assignments.

As such, a hard-fought 1-0 win for the hosts is the correct score prediction as Torino have scored just 15 goals in as many home league games and have the joint-best defensive home record in the league, while two of Juve’s last three away losses have been 1-0 defeats.
