Tottenham Hotspur vs Leeds Predictions

  • Leeds have claimed all of their away points at the current bottom three
  • Tottenham have won three of their five home games this season
  • Spurs have won all three of their meetings with the current bottom six

Opportunity for Conte

Tottenham underwhelmed in their debut Premier League game under Antonio Conte. They laboured to a 0-0 draw away to Everton two weeks’ ago, but Sunday offers a chance for the north London side to return to winning ways.

Leeds are the visitors to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and they come into this clash on the back of a three-game unbeaten run. However, they lost this fixture 3-0 last season and I expect another comfortable win for Spurs.

Leeds look vulnerable

Marcelo Bielsa’s side did win 2-1 in their most recent trip, but a victory at Norwich doesn’t say a lot at the minute. Something which should worry the visitors is that they’ve taken five points from five away games, but those five points have come in visits to the current bottom three.

Meanwhile, Leeds have lost their away away trips to Southampton and Manchester United. That defeat at Old Trafford is one of three meetings with the current top six, with Leeds losing all of them. While Tottenham may not be in that picture right now, that’s the minimum aim for a manager like Conte.

Tottenham to prove too strong

Spurs have been priced up quite well for Sunday’s clash, despite their struggles being a bit overblown. They’ve lost five times this season, but four of those defeats were against the current top six.

The hosts have won three of five home league games this season, losing the others to Manchester United and Chelsea. With Conte now getting a few weeks to settle in the job he should have Spurs looking better. Given that the hosts have already won three of three against the bottom six, back Tottenham to take the points.

Leeds have seen both teams score in all but one of their away games this season and in 73% of their Premier League matches. The hosts still look to be a soft touch at the back and it’ll take time for Conte to fix things. That makes a 3-1 victory for Spurs my correct score prediction.
