Draw

Reason for tip

Tottenham have been tricky opponents for Manchester City in recent seasons and the north London club can hold the visitors to a draw in the last 16 of the EFL Cup, having lost only two of their last nine competitive assignments.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in five of Manchester City’s last eight games and the net could bulge at both ends in this one with 1-1 a decent wager in the correct score betting.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City Predictions

  • Man City have won just three of their last seven games against Tottenham
  • Tottenham have lost just two of their last nine matches in all competitions
  • Both teams have scored in five of Man City’s last eight contests

City could be vulnerable in cup tie

Tottenham have been a bit of a bogey team for Manchester City in recent seasons and Pep Guardiola’s men could again be frustrated when these teams meet in the EFL Cup.

City have won each of their last two meetings with Spurs but have won just three of their last seven encounters with the north London club going back to August 2021.

And while Man City continue to put wins on the board, they have at times looked vulnerable in the absences of Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne.

Spurs hoping to rise to the occasion in EFL Cup

On Saturday they could only edge past a poor Southampton team 1-0 and there will likely be changes from Guardiola as his team try to keep pace in pursuit of a fifth straight Premier League title.

Tottenham have not been in barnstorming form – they lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace on Sunday – but they have won back-to-back games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs have also risen to the occasion in big games this season, easing to 3-0 and 4-1 wins over Manchester United and West Ham, while they ran Arsenal close in a 1-0 defeat in September.

They will be well up for this contest and can make life tough for a potentially rotated City team with the draw making an appeal in the match result markets.
