Tranmere vs Ebbsfleet United Predictions

On the face of it, a 0-0 draw after 90 minutes looks to be a pretty uneventful game of football, but don’t let the lack of goals fool you as there was plenty going on when Ebbsfleet overcame Aldershot to win a place in the next round of the play-offs on Wednesday evening. The hosts were the much more fancied side and were fully expected to be taking Ebbsfleet’s place in this fixture but, although they dominated for much of the match, they were unable to get the job done in 90 minutes.

Ebbsfleet could have avoided all the drama which was to come if Danny Kedwell’s late spot kick had not been saved by Shots keeper Lewis Ward. With the match still deadlocked it went into extra time and the hosts took the lead through Portsmouth loanee Nicke Kabamba’s header shortly after half-time in extra-time. All was not lost though as former Aldershot player Dave Winfield netted a late equaliser to send the contest to a shoot-out. The home side went 3-1 up, with Ward making two saves, but they could not finish the job off, and after Ebbsfleet drew level at 4-4, Ward’s spot-kick struck the post before Dean Rance’s effort sealed victory for the visitors.

It is a clash which is going to be hard to live up to expectations but this weekend’s clash with Tranmere means that Ebbsfleet have no time to digest what they have accomplished before they go back into battle once more. Given that fatigue has to be a factor with the visitors only playing on Wednesday, we think that they will probably be unable to get to the sort of levels they achieved in that match and with this in mind, we think that backing ‘Both Teams to Score – No’ is the way to go.

These two sides have only previously come together in the two clashes this season and with Tranmere keeping a clean sheet in both of those occasions, there are not many positive signs for Fleet to get on the score-sheet this time around. The first clash finished in a 0-0 draw, a result they would gladly take this time around, but when the sides met in February, Tranmere were rampant in a 3-0 win.

One man who looks to be key is Tranmere top scorer Andy Cook. The 27-year-old has 26 goals to his name already this season and with 12 goals in his previous 10 outings, we would not back against him adding to this tally when Ebbsfleet come to visit this weekend.
