Trinidad And Tobago vs Guatemala Predictions

These two sides are battling it out with USA for the two qualification spots in Group C. Right now Trinidad & Tobago are firmly in the box seat and only need a point to secure qualification here. They will be very keen to get it though, given their final game is in Florida against the US next week, whereas Guatemala face whipping boys St Vincent & the Grenadines in their final fixture.

The hosts will be happy with how their campaign has gone so far. They started off with a 2-1 win in Guatemala City and 0-0 draw against the United States before beating St Vincent twice to top the group on 10 points. Their recent results have been poor though as they shipped 10 goals in friendly defeats against China, Uruguay and Peru in May and June. This though is the one that really matters and they’ll be confident they can get the job done.

Guatemala’s surprise 2-0 win over USA is the stand-out result of this group so far and the one that has made things a little interesting going into the final two games. Their results since that match have been poor though. They lost the return clash to the States 4-0 and were hammered 7-1 by Armenia in a friendly in May before more creditable draws against Panama and Venezuela.

They have a strong home record in World Cup qualifying but their problem has always been getting results on the road against the better teams in this region, of which Trinidad certainly are one. The visitors are likely to sit deep here initially and try to cause a few problems on the break but at some point they will have to take the game to their opponents, as it’s one they really have to win. That though, should give the likes of Kenwyne Jones more space at the other end and Trinidad, who have scored plenty of goals over the last couple of years, are likely to get plenty of chances to win the match.

The value therefore looks to be found by backing Trinidad & Tobago to Win at 8/11.
