Udinese vs Fiorentina Predictions

• Fiorentina need to win and hope Lazio lose at home against Lecce to snatch the last European place

Udinese can play spoiler to Fiorentina’s Euro hopes 

Fiorentina’s recent away form makes them uneasy favourites for Sunday’s Serie A curtain call against Udinese at Dacia Arena. Raffaele Palladino’s side have lost five of their last seven road trips in the league and were beaten 2-1 by second-bottom Venezia less than a fortnight ago.

La Viola did get back to winning ways in a 3-2 success over Bologna last time out, but the Rossoblu were not at their best four days after clinching the Coppa Italia. This clash figures to be a tougher test for them even if Udinese have nothing but pride left to play for.

Top scorer Lorenzo Lucca and midfielder Arthur Atta return from suspension and there will be others who know this is likely to be their last game for the club. I Bianconeri have lost three of their last four home games but they were unlucky to go down 2-1 to Monza recently after dominating the game.

La Viola will be aware of Lazio score

The question of motivation is crucial here and on the face of it Fiorentina should be up for the task because they still have an outside chance of snatching sixth place and a Conference League play-off round berth.

But that is entirely dependent on Lazio slipping up at home to lowly Lecce and if the Rome club look like they are going to do the business, word will filter to the Fiorentina players during the game.

Udinese are good value to beat a side with Fiorentina’s away record in any case and they may be able to replicate their 2-1 win at Stadio Artemio Franchi from earlier in the campaign with Lucca back in the side.
