      Inter Milan to Win

      Reason for tip

Inter have dealt expertly with the exit of manager Simone Inzaghi and are beginning to look like a real winning machine under Christian Chivu, tasting victory in each of their last five matches. Union Saint-Gilloise were beaten 4-0 in their last Champions League match and are unlikely to stop Inter maintaining their perfect start in Europe.

      Inter Milan 2-0

      Reason for tip

Not only have Inter found their attacking groove under Chivu but they have improved defensively, too. The Nerazzurri have won each of their last three away games without conceding and USG’s xG figure of 0.88 against Newcastle does nothing to suggest they can find a way past their visitors.

Union Saint Gilloise vs Inter Milan Predictions

      • Inter Milan have won six games in a row
      • Both of Union Saint-Gilloise’s Champions League have gone over 3.5 goals
      • Inter’s last three away games have seen them win and keep a clean sheet

In-form Inter should prove too strong

After a 5-0 hammering in last season’s Champions League final and a disappointing last-16 exit at the summer’s Club World Cup, many expected Inter Milan to struggle this term.

A drop in performance would have been understandable given the exit of influential manager Simone Inzaghi but his successor, Christian Chivu, has quickly silenced his doubters.

Saturday’s impressive 1-0 victory at Roma means Inter have now won six games in a row and they are expected to follow up against Union Saint-Gilloise, whose last Champions League outing was one to forget.

Chivu’s crew can extend winning streak

The Belgian side opened their debut season in Europe’s premier competition with a 3-1 win over PSV but beginners’ luck may have played a part as they were swiftly brought back down to earth next time, being routed 4-0 by Newcastle.

They cannot afford to be that poor against Inter, who are a perfect two from two in the Champions League, and it is hard to look past a win for the Nerazzurri.

The loss of manager Sebastien Pocognoli only further heightens their problems and while new boss David Hubert opened his USG career with a 3-1 win over Charleroi, a clash with Italian giants Inter is likely to prove too tough a task.
