Vejle looking for improvements

Vejle take on Randers in their opening fixture in Denmark’s Superligaen on Sunday.

The hosts finished just one place above the relegation places last year, although they were a comfortable 12 points clear of Lyngby immediately below them, and will be hoping for a better showing next term.

Randers were in the Championship group at the end of last season but they only amassed two points more than their hosts in total after a poor finish, having been eight points above Vejle when the league split.

That was due to facing a higher level of opposition in their final games and ultimately last season was a big success for Randers as they landed the Danish Cup for the second time in their short history.

The Hesten have had a strong pre-season campaign with two wins and two draws, but Randers’ away form last term was overall fairly poor as they lost seven of their 16 games,  with five wins and four draws.

Velje lost just four of their home games last year but also struggled for wins, managing just four on home soil, and we feel this game may well end honours even on Sunday.

Velje drew three of their last five home games last term and a stalemate could be on the cards this weekend.  Both teams failed to keep clean sheets in their final six games last term in the league and we’re expecting goals at both ends so 2-2 looks like it has a chance in the correct score market.
