Villarreal vs Las Palmas Predictions
Villarreal just seem to go from strength to strength and the late season capitulation that scuppered the end of their last campaign sees no sign of materialising this time around. They are unbeaten in 14 league matches now and only Barcelona have lost fewer times this season while only Atleti have a better defensive record. They picked up a hard-fought 0-0 draw away to Celta Vigo in midweek to help maintain their advantage on the chasing pack in the race for Champions League football which now stands at 9 points.
Las Palmas picked up their biggest win of the season in midweek, thrashing Getafe 4-0 on Gran Canaria. They picked up their first away win of the season in the league the Friday before beating Eibar 1-0 in the Basque Country and those results have given their survival chances a massive lift. They are up to 15th place now but are still only 1 point outside the relegation zone and it promises to be a nail-biting battle to beat the drop.
Despite those two wins, it is still hard to see Las Palmas getting a result here. Villarreal are a really tough team to break down as better teams than Las Palmas have discovered and they possess just enough attacking quality to win matches like this. Villarreal have kept clean sheets in all of their last 7 home league games and have conceded just 1 goal in their last 10 matches at El Madrigal in all competitions winning 8 of them. Therefore backing Villarreal to win to nil at 6/4 really appeals here.
