      VV Gemert vs Feyenoord Predictions

Feyenoord have such an affiliation with the KNVB Beker, having claimed the title on thirteen occasions, which of course includes last seasons victory against AZ Alkmaar. On Thursday the Eredivisie side take on amateurs VV Gemert at the SolarUnie Stadion, which is the home of Eerste Divisie side Helmond Sport.

VV Gemert play in the Hoofdklasse, the fifth tier of Dutch football and the second highest amateur division in the country. Gemert’s biggest game to date arrived in 2012 when they were drawn against Vitesse in the Second Round of the KNVB Beker against Eredivisie side Vitesse, which ended in a 3-0 defeat.

Gemert have had a good start to the season and sit fourth in the Zondag B table, one of four sections making up the Hoofdklasse, after four games with three wins and one defeat to their name. Gemert have scored more than any other Zondag B side so far this season with a hefty sixteen goals in four games and just five conceded.

The last three games have ended in victory for Gemert, most recently a 3-0 win away at Minor, but none of their opponents compare to Feyenoord. A victory is more than expected for Feyenoord on Thursday, its demanded by their fans, who love to see their side challenge for all the competitions they enter, and as the reigning KNVB Beker champions it’s important to put in a good performance to show their competitors they mean business once again this season.

Feyenoord sit third in the Eredivisie table on thirteen points with second placed Ajax, with both teams losing one, drawing one and winning four of their opening six matches this season. Since their opening day defeat at newly promoted De Graafschap, Feyenoord have remained unbeaten in the Eredivisie and the Europa League, beating Utrecht 1-0 at home last weekend.

Veteran forward van Persie top scores for Feyenoord this season with five goals so far, but there is a chance that the 35-year old will be rested against amateur side Gemert on Thursday and instead saved for the weekend clash with Vitesse.

We’re confident that Feyenoord will win on Thursday and that over 4.5 goals will be scored in the process, with the game ending 5-0. Feyenoord are unbeaten in their last six matches, winning four and drawing two. Over 4.5 goals have been scored in two of Feyenoord’s last six matches and in three of VV Gemert’s last six matches. Feyenoord play four divisions higher than their hosts who play in the Hoofdklasse, which is the second highest amateur league in the Netherlands and therefore will be expected to win very comfortably, even if they don’t play a full strength starting eleven.
