A dramatic finish in Belarus handed Wales a lifeline in their bid to make it to the 2022 World Cup. Gareth Bale’s hat-trick sealed a 3-2 victory having been 2-1 down late on, but that will mean little if Wales can’t follow it up against Estonia.

The visitors were narrowly beaten 1-0 at home to Northern Ireland on Sunday and they looked short on ideas in that defeat. Expect them to struggle on the road here, having lost 1-0 at Sweden back in March. They also finished 2020’s Nations League campaign against poor opposition by failing to score in two of three trips.

Meanwhile, playing in Cardiff usually results in a clean sheet for the Welsh, who can expect a more routine test than they had at the weekend. They’ve conceded in only one of their last eight at home, picking up four 1-0 wins in that run.

Estonia look more vulnerable at the back and they should concede more than once on Wednesday. They’ve shipped 17 goals across their last four qualifiers, so I’m going with a 3-0 correct score prediction alongside a home win to nil.
