Walsall look the likely winners when they host Chesterfield on Saturday at the Bescot Stadium. Mat Sadler’s side have upset the odds a few times recently, winning four of their last five League Two games as underdogs.

Chesterfield are second in League Two, with Walsall four places below them having won one fewer game. Both teams have won more games than they’ve lost this season, and backing home sides in these matchups would have shown a profit.

Walsall beat MK Dons 1-0 last weekend to keep up their recent winning trend and bring the hosts’ nine-game unbeaten run to an end. Charlie Lakin scored the only goal of the game in the 52nd minute. They were priced at 14/5 to win the game.

Walsall are in form, having won five of their last seven League Two matches, including their last two.

Chesterfield are in good form, with four wins, one draw and one defeat in their last six League Two games. That run includes a heavy 4-1 loss to Gillingham.

The visitors have been vulnerable defensively recently. Chesterfield have gone four League Two games without keeping a clean sheet.

A 2-0 home win for Walsall looks the best correct-score bet. Seven of Walsall’s last nine League Two matches have produced under 2.5 goals and a low-scoring game is on the cards here.
