Wigan vs Plymouth Argyle Predictions
- Plymouth have scored once in their last five matches
- Both sides have failed to win any of their last three matches
- Nerves set to play a part for both sides
A point would go a long way to sealing Latics the title
Wigan are falling over the line somewhat, but The Latics look to champions in waiting. Two wins would secure the title, but given the form Rotherham currently find themselves in, three points would probably be sufficient for Wigan to secure the League One title and a return to English football’s second tier. Leam Richardson may well settle for a point on Saturday against a Plymouth side who themselves have enjoyed a fine campaign. Plymouth are the strongest opponents left on Wigan’s schedule and point would go a long way to sealing the title should results elsewhere go in their favour.
Plymouth desperately need a win
Just a month ago Plymouth looked to have done enough to secure a play-off spot. A run of one win in five now sees their top six prospects hanging in the balance. Defeat on Saturday could see The Pilgrims fall out of the top six and they have been in dire form of late – Plymouth have scored just once in their last five outings. Steven Schumacher will be hoping his side can take encouragement from their good away record this season. Plymouth have the fifth best away record in the division this season and will need to lean on this if they are to get a result at the DW Stadium on Saturday.
Both sides will likely settle for a point in this one and I am happy to put up The Draw as the main selection for Saturday’s clash. Both teams have drawn two of their last three matches and there is every chance this will go the same way with nerves on both sides set to play a big role. In the correct score market, a chance can be taken on this finishing 1-1.
