      Wolverhampton vs Besiktas Predictions

      • Wolves can still finish top of Group K with a win on Thursday.
      • Wolves lost just two of their last 17 games in all competitions.
      • Wanderers averaged just 1.52 goals per game across their last 17 matches.
      • Besiktas scored in all but two of their last 19 games.

Top spot still open to Wolves

While qualification for the knockout stages has already been secured, Wolves still have a chance to land first spot in Group K – a finish that could potentially hand them an easier route through the last 32 when the competition resumes in the new year.

To grab the lead at the final hurdle, Wolves must first beat Turkish outfit and Group K’s bottom club Besiktas and then hope Sporting Braga drop points in Bratislava against Slovan in the section’s other contest.

Wolves a tough nut to crack

Wanderers carry an eight-match unbeaten run into Thursday’s game, and Nuno Espirito Santos’ charges were beaten only once in their last 17 matches overall in all competitions since mid-September.

Wolves’ incredible ability to avoid defeat has made them one of the Premier League’s toughest teams to turn over since their promotion from the Championship in 2018 – a trait they have carried with them into their continental adventures this term.

With qualification games included, Wolves were bested just once in the 11 Europa League fixtures they’ve contested since mid-July; and Wanderers will expect to enhance that fine record even further this week.

High BTTS % in Wolves games

A major feature of Wolves’ performances and fixtures this season has been the high prevalence of both teams scoring. Wanderers don’t concede many, though they do tend to concede regularly. Wolves’ opponents have found a way to carve open their defence in 10 of their last 12 games, though Wanderers conceded just 1.16 goals per 90 minutes on average across those dozen fixtures.

At the other end, that same pattern has been repeating itself, and while Wolves don’t score many, they routinely register in the majority of their games. Wanderers have rattled the net in each of their last 17 outings in all competitions, though they scored just 1.52 goals per 90 minutes on average.

Both teams got on the scoresheet in 12 of those 17 games, and in 10 of Wolves’ most recent 12 contests – and it’s in that both teams to score market we feel the best value lies for Thursday’s game.

      Besiktas rarely fail to score

Besiktas have struggled for results in Group K, though the Turkish giants did manage to hit the net in all but one of their five fixtures in the section since August. The Black Eagles scored in all but two of their last 19 competitive matches overall, and they carry enough attacking threat to find a way past a Wolves rearguard that are finding clean sheets difficult to attain.

Any Besiktas goal is likely to be a consolation strike, however, which is why our correct score prediction is tipping Wolves to emerge as 2-1 victors.
