Yeovil vs Carlisle Predictions

Yeovil Town will have been hoping to bounce straight back into League One following their relegation last season, but it hasn’t panned out anything like that.

A terrible first half to the season has left them with a small chance of being relegated for the second consecutive year, although the tragic failures of York City and Dagenham & Redbridge have made that scenario unlikely. Yeovil Town are currently in 20th position in League Two with an 11 point lead over the bottom two.

They have finally started playing to their potential recently as well, with their defeat to Cambridge United last weekend ending a six match unbeaten streak, a four match winning streak, and a run of five games in which they didn’t concede. Too bad promotion is out of the question now.

Carlisle United flirted with the relegation battle last season, but they seem to have learned their lesson. They are in a comfortable 11th position in the table at the moment with 53 points from their 36 league games. They have already surpassed last season’s total, and they are only four points adrift of the playoff positions and have a game in hand on all the teams above them.

However, they are struggling to win matches at the moment. They haven’t won in five games and have had to settle for a point on four occasions during this period.

Yeovil Town’s key to success at the moment is the tightening of their back line. They have only conceded two goals in their last five home matches and have kept clean sheets in five of their last eight home matches. This has resulted in some low scoring affairs, with seven of their last eight home games ending with fewer than three goals scored. Carlisle United haven’t been involved in many thrillers either, with seven of their last nine away days ending with two or fewer goals scored.

This makes odds of 8/11 for Under 2.5 Goals look good value for money, and I’m going for a 1-1 stalemate as my correct score prediction at 5/1.
