Yeovil Town vs Tranmere Predictions

It is often true that sides who are promoted from the National League are able to continue their momentum when in the Football League and their upward curve often extends into a second promotion, a trend which Tranmere Rovers will certainly be hoping they are able to continue. This weekend, however, they face the difficult prospect of a trip to face off against a Yeovil Town side who have already pulled off a few surprises this season.

Yeovil Town’s last game was a 2-0 loss at Bristol Rovers in an Checkatrade Trophy tie which followed a 2-2 home draw with Exeter City in the league. The hosts go into this clash in pretty poor form, having failed to win in their last six outings, but they should not be underestimated. Town are among the top scorers in the division with 20 goals to their name and although they are quite leaky at the back, their firepower means they can be a threat to any side in the division.

Tranmere Rovers picked up their third straight league win last Friday as they secured a 1-0 home victory over fellow League Two new boys, Macclesfield Town. That result emphasised what was already an impressive start to the season as Rovers have claimed 23 points so far this term and currently occupy fifth spot in League Two. Rovers may not be quite as impressive in front of goal as their hosts, but given that 83% of their away matches have finished with both teams scoring, they certainly seem capable of causing problems on their travels.

With the hosts tendency to try to outscore the opposition, and the visitors already well versed in both teams finding the back of the net, we think that backing them both to score looks to be the way to go in this fixture. However, the form book is hard to ignore and certainly favours a Tranmere victory. With this in mind, we think that combining our initial tip of both teams to score with an away win is an excellent way to boost the odds on offer.
