York vs Crawley Town Predictions

York City, after enduring a terrible season overall, looked to be sparking some sort of resurgence back in February. They won three matches in a run of four games and looked like they could pull off a miracle, but they have soon slumped back into their old ways.

They come into this match having lost six of their last seven outings and failing to win any of them. This return of a single point from their last 21 available isn’t going to do them any favours come the end of the season.

York are currently occupying 23rd position in League Two, seven points adrift of the safety of 22nd place and with just nine games remaining. Their last nine games have seen them pick up seven points, but by repeating that feat they would have to hope that Stevenage lose every one of their remaining matches. All this serves to illustrate is the fact that York are going to have to improve considerably if they are to escape the drop zone.

Crawley Town sit in the safety of 16th position, although they will have been hoping to challenge for promotion considering they came down from League One last campaign. They do still have an outside chance of reaching the playoffs, but a 13 point gap between them and 7th placed Leyton Orient seems like a chasm that could be impossible to cross with the limited time they have.

They come into this match unbeaten in four matches though, with two wins and two draws getting them out of their previous slump in form. Two of their last four away days have resulted in a win for them, and they are facing a side who are down in the dumps and haven’t even won at home in three matches.

This makes odds of 3/5 for a Crawley Win or Draw Double Chance valuable in my eyes, and I’m going for that along with a 1-0 win for the visitors at 15/2.
