Hibernian vs Motherwell Predictions
- Five of the last seven Easter Road meetings between these sides have gone 2.5 goals
- Hibs lost only three of 19 home league matches last season
- Motherwell won only two of their final ten league matches of last term
Hibs can bask in Leith sunshine
Hibernian suffered a dismal 2-0 loss at Malisheva in the first leg of the Conference League qualifying contest but they roared back to beat the Kosovans 4-1 on Thursday night.
Hopes of progress were high at Easter Road, with a settled squad boosted with a handful of new signings.
David Gray’s men were good enough to finish fifth in the Scottish top flight last term and standout performers Josh Mulligan and remain at the club.
Forward Kieron Bowie left for Verona in January, but new signings Nathan Lowe and Owen Elding have bolstered the attack and Hibs may have enough to beat Motherwell.
The Steelmen have lost influential manager Jens Berthel Askou and key attacker Elijah Just made a big-money move to Swansea.
Elliot Watt and Calum Ward have also departed Fir Park and a repeat of Motherwell’s top-four finish of last season looks unlikely.
The Well can take confidence from their 5-0 European win over Torshavn, but a trip to Easter Road rates as a tougher task for Alfred Johansson’s men.
Hibs are around 5-4 to start the season with a victory and that rates an attractive offer.
