Celtic vs Dundee Predictions

Champions can cash in against weak opponents 

Celtic start their William Hill Premiership title defence against Dundee and the Hoops are 5-6 to hold onto their Scottish top-flight crown. 

It’s difficult to describe the summer as a period of promise for Celtic, who lost Daizen Maeda to Ipswich and have made only a couple of major signing. 

Forwards Camilo Duran Kasper Hogh have arrived, but as it stands, this is the second season in a row that Celtic will start with a weaker squad than the last and that is not the only concern. 

The Bhoys were taken all the way by Hearts in the title race last season and it’s not hard to have doubts over veteran manager Martin O’Neill’s ability to move the club forward. 

Fortunately for the champions, Dundee were the second-worst performing Scottish top flight team on the numbers last term and limited summer arrivals suggest improvement may be limited. 

The Dee lost last season’s first-choice goalkeeper Jon McCracken in the summer and impressive young centre-back Luke Graham has left for Stoke. 

Any success of Steven Pressley’s men has been built on a resolute backline, but that may be difficult to replicate with two key performers no longer on the roster. 

Take over 3.5 goals as the best way to side with a high-scoring success for the Champions.
