Over 3.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Manchester City have managed just one clean sheet in their last nine games and Young Boys have hit 18 goals in just seven home games this season. That suggests both teams can score, and as such a high-scoring game is expected. All four Group G games involving these sides has featured over 3.5 goals and we feel these sides can combine for at least four goals on Wednesday.

Manchester City 3-1

Reason for tip

City have won both of their group stage games 3-1 and a hat-trick of  wins by that scoreline could be on the cards. City have the quality to win comfortably but they haven’t necessarily hit top form yet either and have only scored more than three goals in one game this season, while Young Boys haven’t conceded more than three in any game. The visitors are struggling for clean sheets so a consolation strike is expected for the Swiss outfit.

Julian Alvarez To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Julian Alvarez was on target in the win over Brighton at the weekend and has been in fine form in Europe, hitting three goals in two group games, so back the City forward to grab a goal at the Stadion Wankdorf.

Young Boys vs Manchester City Predictions

  • Over 3.5 goals has been a winning bet in all four group stage games involving these sides.
  • Young Boys have scored 18 goals across seven competitive home games.
  • Man City have won their both of their group stage games 3-1.

Swiss miss unlikely for City

Manchester City make the trip to Switzerland to face Young Boys in the Champions League on Wednesday and anything other than a victory for the visitors would register as a huge shock.

Manager Pep Guardiola could be tempted to rotate his side a little for this game as there is a Manchester derby at Old Trafford on Sunday, but even a changed City side should be too strong for their hosts at the Stadion Wankdorf.

The European champions are the heavy favourites in the match betting and as such the goals markets look the best way to approach this fixture for value.

High-scoring affair likely in Bern

City are perhaps yet to find their rhythm domestically but in the Champions League they have started strongly, picking up a pair of 3-1 wins over Crvena Zvezda (h) and RB Leipzig (a) in their opening two outings.

Young Boys have one point on the board as they managed a draw in Belgrade last time out and, like City, over 3.5 goals has been a winning bet in both of their games so far.

Over 3.5 goals looks a good option for our main bet here as City have scored exactly three goals in their two Champions League games and they are scoring on average over two goals per-game in the Premier League.

Young Boys may be able to add to the goals total as they have hit an impressive 18 goals across seven competitive home games this term and have struck three times in their two European fixtures, while City have managed just one clean sheet in their last nine across all competitions.

Alvarez starring in Europe

Another 3-1 Champions League win for City is the correct score prediction as Young Boys are yet to concede more than three goals in any game this term, and City have only scored more than three once,

Erling Haaland will probably start on Wednesday even though Guardiola may have an eye on Sunday’s trip to Old Trafford, but Julian Alvarez looks the better option for a goal at any time, The Argentina international was on target in the win over Brighton at the weekend and has been in fine form in Europe, hitting three goals in two group games.
