AFC Bournemouth to Win

Reason for tip

Bournemouth are unbeaten in their last six Premier League games and face a Southampton side that have picked up just one point from their last five outings. The Saints have lost eight of their last 12 league away games and their only win in this period came against bottom-placed Leicester.

Phillip Billing To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Philip Billing provided an assist at the weekend to make it three goals and one assist from his last five appearances for Bournemouth, with the midfielder only failing to be involved in a goal in one of these fixtures.

AFC Bournemouth vs Southampton Predictions

  • Bournemouth are unbeaten in their last six Premier League games.
  • Southampton are winless in five league matches and have lost four of those.
  • Philip Billing has scored in three of his last five appearances for Bournemouth.

Cherries turn a corner after Anfield battering

Bournemouth’s 9-0 drubbing at Anfield earlier this season will go down as the low point of the season for the newly-promoted side but they have certainly shown an impressive amount of resilience to bounce back from such a humbling.

That defeat marked the end of Scott Parker’s reign and interim boss Gary O’Neil is making a very good case for himself. The Cherries are the only side in the Premier League to remain undefeated in the period following that defeat, with the ten points collected in this time pushing them into the top half of the table.

Saints’ poor run continues

Southampton shocked Chelsea a few days after Liverpool’s record-equalling win but their form has nosedived since then, with their 1-1 draw at home to West Ham at the weekend ending a run of four successive defeats but extending their winless streak further.

The Saints now find themselves in the relegation zone, and the fact they have won just one of their last 12 Premier League away games, losing eight, will do little for their confidence as they head to their south-coast rivals.

Home side set for more success

With Southampton in such dire straits backing the home win looks the best play here, although given Bournemouth have conceded in eight of their 11 competitive outings this season I fancy the Saints to get a goal and a 2-1 correct score prediction appeals.

Philip Billing stands out as an excellent price in the anytime goalscorer market. The Denmark international provided an assist at the weekend to make it three goals and one assist in his last five appearances for Bournemouth.
