Go Ahead Eagles vs Telstar Predictions

Telstar ran out surprise 2-1 winners when these teams met at IJmuiden Stadion in November, and Mike Snoei’s side will be seeking to pull off another shock against Eagles this Monday after collecting 13 points from their last five league games. Go Ahead will have other ideas though as they look to consolidate 3rd place in Eerste Divisie, and the hosts have generally been a team to keep on side this season when playing in Deventer.

Go Ahead we’re beaten 1-2 by leaders Twente when they last turned out at De Adelaarshorst a fortnight ago, but that was only their third defeat at home this term and one which can hardly be marked as a failure based on the quality of opposition.

Eagles have bagged nine victories from their 15 outings in Deventer overall this season and they will fancy their chances of regaining the winning thread in front of their supporters this Monday following a decent 1-3 success at Dordrecht on Friday.

It wasn’t all plain sailing for John Stegeman’s side at Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion, but after goals from Thomas Verheydt and Jaroslav Navratil gave them a 1-2 advantage at the break, Eagles managed to see things out well before Navratil added a third in stoppage time.

Go Ahead should be feeling in pretty good shape then to deal with this quick turnaround, but they won’t be underestimating opponents Telstar based on recent form and their 2-1 defeat in November’s reverse fixture.

Telstar’s four match winning streak came to an end on Friday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Eindhoven at home, but that wasn’t a bad result considering Blauw-witten went into that contest brimming with confidence after hammering Dordrecht 8-1 on match day 30.

Telstar’s last fixture on the road was a real hum-dinger as they recovered from being 3-0 down at the break to beat 4th placed Den Bosch 3-4 – and a repeat of that second half performance here would unquestionably give them a serious shout of claiming a positive result.

Nonetheless, we feel that a home victory is the most likely outcome at De Adelaarshorst on match day 32 as Eagles seek to establish some momentum before the Play-offs in May.

All thing being equal, they are a much better outfit week to week than the visitors; and the 19 point gap between the sides in the table counts for plenty despite the fact Telstar are currently enjoying their best spell of the campaign.

We fancy that spell to end here on Monday and we’re backing Eagles to win with both teams to score as both sides have hit the net in seven of the last eight meetings. 3-1 is our prediction in the correct score market.
