Back a high-scoring clash

New York City have scored at least twice in four of their last five MLS games, and there should be plenty of goals again when they visit Montreal on Sunday. Over 2.5 goals is the bet.

They are 17 points superior to Montreal in the standings, with eight wins, four draws and six losses. In contrast, Montreal have just two wins so far, alongside five draws and 12 defeats.

Montreal have won just one of their last seven MLS matches and New York City, while drawing their last two away games, won 4-0 against Atlanta United two weeks ago.

Montreal lost 3-1 to Cincinnati on Thursday in their last MLS outing and the game kept up their recent pattern of games with over 2.5 goals.

Seven of Montreal’s last nine MLS matches and each of New York City’s last four have gone over 2.5 goals. The league is also averaging 2.9 goals a game this season.

Montreal have looked vulnerable at the back, failing to keep a clean sheet in eight of their last nine MLS home games.

Montreal may be able to edge out New York City in a game that sees both teams score, with a 2-1 home win the correct-score pick. Both teams have scored in seven of Montreal’s last nine MLS games and four of New York City’s six defeats have come by the odd goal.
